Most of us have heard stories of how toothpaste can help vanish a pimple forever. Or maybe people who haven’t heard such stories have been blessed with perfect glowy skins. Our moms used to take us to washrooms and ask us to put toothpaste on our pimples that randomly occurred on our faces out of nowhere. To our surprise, it often worked, and we woke up having flawless skin like Beyonce’s. We were always told that acne problems are going to go away once we step out of teenage. Later found out it was a myth.
At this age, at least we do not need to depend on these mysteries of putting toothpaste on pimples, as we have so many better options. HuffPost told dermatologists that the ingredients of toothpaste, in no way, are effective to make the pimples go away. Instead, it could make the skin dry and irritated.
If experts think it is a bad idea to put toothpaste on pimples, why do people swear it’s the best way to remove pimples effectively. However, when toothpaste is applied, it causes dryness and redness on the skin, so why not take proper acne treatment creams which are meant to do the job? Even if you are into DIY treatments, there are plenty of DIY treatments for that purpose too.
The most important thing is to find out what is causing the acne before even treating it. So far, studies show chocolates, greasy food, and taking stress are proven to cause acne. Doctors claim that no proper research is conducted on natural treatments for acne so they don’t approve these methods, as who knows if they are even safe or not?
Doctors recommend OTC (Over the Counter) medicines; they are cheap and even effective. If you are not satisfied with the OTC medicines, you can also try some quick natural remedies. Some of the best-proven remedies are, take an aspirin and crush it, add few drops of water and make a paste and apply it on your pimple with a cotton swab and let it stay for ten minutes. ‘Salicylic acid’ in the aspirin is also present in many acne creams, so it can do a quick trick. Another reasonable acne treatment was making a paste of honey and turmeric and applied to pimples directly. You can also use cinnamon instead if turmeric is not available.
But if your acne gets out of control, and nothing you do seem to work out. It’s time you book an appointment with your dermatologist and find out what’s actually causing it.
