However, there are some people who believe that it’s possible to hear people who are dead if you pay attention.
Mediums who hear spirits are said to have clairaudient communication. This is different from being clairvoyant as it’s hearing spirits instead of seeing them. The study conducted by Durham University featured over 60 mediums. There were also over 140 members of the public included in the study. Many of the mediums involved reported hearing the dead from the time they were younger. A large number of the mediums in the study also had a trait called absorption. This is a trait that is related to various states of being conscious, which is important for hearing or seeing spirits.

Some people who hear voices can distinguish male and female voices as well as the distinct sound of family members and those who they don’t know. For some people, experiences that they have had in childhood have resulted in hearing voices as an adult.
